Samsung’s Latest Innovation: Massive 440MP Cameras Unveiled

According to information from tech source ‘Revegnus on X’, Samsung is actively working on the development of four cutting-edge sensors. These include the 50MP GN6, the 200MP HP7, an undisclosed 320MP version, and the 440MP HU1 model.

However, not all of these sensors are slated for inclusion in Samsung’s Galaxy S smartphones. Some of these sensors are being planned for other manufacturers and possibly diverse industries.

Of the sensors in the pipeline, the 50MP GN6 stands out. Designed to fit within a 1-inch space, it boasts 1.6µm pixels. It’s set to rival Sony’s popular 1-inch IMX989 solution used in many smartphones.

Yet, there are whispers that the manufacturing cost of Samsung’s 50MP sensor could limit its integration into the company’s own products, making it more likely to be adopted by external manufacturers.

In contrast, the 440MP HU1 sensor might not primarily target smartphones. Its potential applications could find greater use in industries like automotive or industrial sectors.

As for the 320MP camera, there’s speculation that it might eventually find its way into the Galaxy S series after the development phase concludes. However, sources suggest its earliest inclusion could be in the Galaxy S26 Ultra, expected in 2026.

Lastly, the 200MP HP7 sensor was initially intended to complement the Galaxy S25 Ultra. It comes with slightly larger pixels and a modest improvement in image quality compared to the existing 200MP HP2 sensor found in the Galaxy S23 Ultra.

Nevertheless, manufacturing costs could potentially make this variant too expensive for Samsung’s consideration in its own smartphone lineup.
