Lucky Cement Energizes 25MW Solar Power Plant in Karachi
Advancing Renewable Energy Commitment
Lucky Cement Limited (LCL) has announced the successful completion and commissioning of a 25MW captive solar power plant at its manufacturing site in Karachi. The project was executed according to schedule and has officially commenced operations as of August 20, 2023.
According to a notice issued to the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX), Lucky Cement highlighted that this new solar power plant enhances its self-consumption power generation capacity from renewable sources to 39 percent. This figure includes the 34MW solar power plant previously commissioned in December 2022 at the Pezu manufacturing site, as well as the Waste Heat Recovery plants located at both sites.
By bolstering their commitment to renewable and clean energy, the combined capacity of these solar power plants reflects the company’s dedication to sustainable practices.
LCL emphasized that their investment in renewable energy initiatives not only contributes to cost savings but also reduces the nation’s dependence on imported fuels. The company reiterated its ongoing commitment to pursuing environmentally conscious initiatives in the future.
