Crackdown Unearths Over 300 Electricity Thieves, Including Former MNA

Stringent Action Taken Nationwide to Curb Electricity Theft

Under the directives of the Caretaker Prime Minister, a crackdown has been initiated against electricity thieves, during which more than 300 electricity thieves, including a former member of the National Assembly, have been identified in Lahore.

A nationwide crackdown against electricity theft is underway, and the Islamabad Police have arrested several electricity thieves during crackdown operations.

In the Lahore region, including Lesco region, a grand operation has also been conducted, during which more than 300 electricity thieves, including a former member of the National Assembly, have been identified, and cases have been registered against 130 of them.

In Peshawar, legal action has also been taken against electricity thieves, while similar actions are underway in various cities of Sindh, including Mirpur Khas, Nawabshah, Hyderabad, Thatta, Badin, Tando Allahyar, and other cities.

On the other hand, K-Electric’s CEO, Abdul Karim Jamali, revealed that in Balochistan’s areas of Noshki, Pishin, Khanozai, and Loralaai, 67 electricity connections of thieves have been disconnected, and electrical equipment has been seized. FIRs have been lodged against electricity thieves in relevant police stations for inclusion in the FIR.

Abdul Karim Jamali also stated that in Quetta, approximately 2.3 million rupees of outstanding dues from cement factories and an ice factory have been recovered, and their connections have been disconnected due to non-payment.
