Dubai’s 1200-Mile Underwater Train to India at 1000 km/hr – A Game-Changer in Transport

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has embarked on an ambitious endeavor: the development of an underwater train system connecting Dubai to Mumbai, India, spanning an impressive distance of 1,200 miles (2,000 km). This groundbreaking project seeks to establish a unique transportation link facilitating the movement of people and a diverse range of commodities, including water and oil.

What initially started as a conceptual idea in 2018, the Dubai to Mumbai underwater train initiative is now steadily evolving into a tangible reality. The UAE’s National Advisor Bureau is actively engaged in crafting a pragmatic blueprint for the railway and the design of a specialized train tailored to this innovative venture.

While the strong diplomatic ties between the UAE and India undoubtedly play a role in this grand undertaking, there are other compelling factors motivating Dubai’s interest in this underwater train project. Saudi Arabia has emerged as a formidable contender in the region, initiating ambitious projects backed by substantial financial resources.

One such prominent endeavor is NEOM, a visionary undertaking encompassing the extravagant LINE, with the aim of constructing a colossal city stretching from the desert to the shores of the sea. This venture is nothing short of audacious and comes with a hefty price tag, as the entire NEOM project is anticipated to require an investment of approximately $1 trillion, with the LINE segment accounting for a staggering $500 billion of that total expenditure.
