Asad Rehman Gilani, Secretary of the Board of Investment (BOI), has highlighted a significant opportunity for Pakistani businessmen in the halal meat sector, particularly to tap into the expansive Chinese market. Gilani discussed this potential during a meeting with the Sargodha Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI), led by its president, Sajid Hussain Tarar. He encouraged the chamber to seek out unconventional investment prospects in China, the United States, and Europe.

Gilani also emphasized the need for innovation in exports. Instead of sending raw oranges, he suggested the adoption of modern technologies to export value-added citrus products to the US, such as orange pulp. The secretary also underscored the substantial demand for halal meat from China, urging the SCCI to explore this untapped market.

Furthermore, Gilani informed about a recent business conference organized by BOI and the Pakistan Embassy in Korea, which attracted participation from over 200 Korean companies. President Sajid Hussain Tarar praised Gilani’s business vision and revealed plans for an upcoming Citrus Festival in three different countries, aimed at showcasing Pakistan’s citrus produce on a global stage.
