Peugeot expands presence in Pakistan amid evolving automotive market trends

Peugeot entered the Pakistani market in 2022 through Lucky Motor Corporation, marking the French automotive brand’s local debut as consumer demand increasingly shifted toward SUVs. Since its launch, Peugeot’s focus in Pakistan has been the Peugeot 2008, currently the only locally assembled European SUV in the country. The model is produced at Lucky Motor Corporation’s modern facility, featuring a Dürr-supplied robotic paint shop, a technology used by leading global automakers, ensuring a high-quality paint finish for vehicles assembled in Pakistan. Recent updates to production have added new exterior colours, including Selenium Grey, matching Peugeot’s international lineup.

The Peugeot 2008 is positioned in the compact B-SUV segment, one of the fastest-growing categories in Pakistan. Combining European styling, fuel efficiency, and a feature-rich design, the SUV targets urban buyers seeking a balance of practicality and premium appeal. Lucky Motor Corporation has strengthened Peugeot’s presence in Pakistan through local assembly, dealer network expansion, and ongoing product enhancements, allowing the brand to adapt to market conditions and build a steady foothold.

In 2025, LMC introduced the Peugeot 2008 facelift, aligning the locally assembled SUV with Peugeot’s latest global updates. The facelift included new colour options such as Selenium Grey, reflecting a long-term strategy for product updates and brand growth. Industry sources indicate that LMC is considering expanding its local portfolio with additional Stellantis models, depending on regulatory approvals and market dynamics. While no official announcements have been made, this evaluation signals a careful approach to future growth in Pakistan.

Despite challenges in the automotive sector, LMC remains optimistic about Pakistan’s market. Increasing consumer preference for SUVs, evolving expectations, and gradual infrastructure improvements are creating opportunities for growth, while Peugeot continues to focus on delivering quality, value, and European design to local buyers.
