The federal government has increased the price of high-speed diesel by Rs. 11.30 per litre, while maintaining petrol prices for the next 15 days, according to a notification from the Ministry of Energy. The new rates will take effect from February 1, 2026, following recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority.
Under the revised pricing, high-speed diesel will cost Rs. 268.38 per litre, up from the previous rate of Rs. 257.08 per litre. Diesel, widely used in transport, agriculture, and industrial sectors, often influences broader inflationary trends, making this adjustment significant for consumers and businesses.
In contrast, the price of petrol (motor spirit) remains unchanged at Rs. 253.17 per litre for the upcoming fortnight. The notification stated that these rates will remain in effect for 15 days, after which the government will review fuel prices in line with market conditions.
