Pakistan has achieved a significant milestone in its energy sector with the discovery of new oil and gas reserves at the Mari Ghazij CFB-1 exploration well. Mari Energies Limited has confirmed that the site is projected to yield approximately 305 barrels of oil per day along with 3 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, enhancing the country’s domestic energy capacity.
Drilled on September 12, 2025, the well reached a depth of 1,195 meters and represents the second oil discovery in the Mari Ghazij region. The announcement marks a positive development in Pakistan’s efforts to reduce reliance on imported energy and strengthen energy security.
CEO Faheem Haider commended the efforts of the company’s geoscientific team and reiterated the organization’s commitment to supporting national energy objectives. This energy discovery coincides with a modest increase in the State Bank’s reserves, which rose by $20.7 million, reflecting a broader trend of improving economic indicators.
