Former US President Donald Trump revealed that a possible large-scale conflict between India and Pakistan was avoided due to his direct intervention during his presidency. Speaking about his involvement in easing regional tensions, Trump said he personally contacted both Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Pakistan’s top leadership to de-escalate the situation.

Trump explained that he delivered a firm message to both sides, warning that the United States would suspend trade deals and economic cooperation if the confrontation continued. He emphasized that peace and stability in South Asia were in the best interests of both countries and the international community.

During his remarks, Trump praised both leaders for their eventual cooperation in reducing hostilities. He described Narendra Modi as a “tough” and decisive leader who acts in the best interest of India, while referring to Pakistan’s Prime Minister as a “great man” supported by a Field Marshal he called an “exceptional fighter.” Trump credited their willingness to engage in dialogue as a key factor in avoiding what could have been a serious regional crisis.
