Pakistani universities have earned multiple nominations in the Times Higher Education (THE) Awards Asia 2026, highlighting the country’s growing presence in the regional higher education landscape. The eighth edition of the awards attracted over 500 entries across 10 categories, with judges selecting 80 finalists from 17 countries and territories.
Thailand leads the shortlist with 16 nominations, followed by India with 12 and Hong Kong with nine. From Pakistan, Beaconhouse National University and Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS) feature prominently. Beaconhouse National University has been shortlisted for Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership and Research Project of the Year in Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, while LUMS appears in the Outstanding Support for Students category and Research Project of the Year in Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
Chris Havergal, editor of Times Higher Education, noted that the shortlisted entries reflect the diversity and depth of higher education across Asia, demonstrating strong performance in teaching, research, innovation, and community engagement. Winners will be announced at a ceremony in Hong Kong on April 22, 2026, coinciding with the opening day of THE Asia Universities Summit, hosted in partnership with the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
