Beaconhouse National University (BNU) has been shortlisted for the Times Higher Education Awards Asia 2026 for the second consecutive year, reinforcing Pakistan’s growing academic presence across Asia. BNU is the only Pakistani university to reach the finalists’ stage in back-to-back years, highlighting consistent institutional excellence.
This year, BNU is among the top eight Asian universities in two highly competitive categories: Outstanding Contribution to Environmental Leadership and Research Project of the Year (Arts, Humanities & Social Sciences). In the environmental leadership category, Dr. Usman Nazir from the School of Computer and Information Technology has been recognized for his work combining technology and sustainability. In the research category, Ms. Werdah Munib from the School of Media and Mass Communication has been shortlisted for a cross-disciplinary project that engages faculty and students in socially relevant academic and creative inquiry.
These nominations reflect BNU’s commitment to integrating research rigor, innovation, and societal relevance within its academic programs. The recognition builds on last year’s achievement when BNU was highlighted across three award categories, including Most Innovative Teacher of the Year and Outstanding Support for Students, showcasing the university’s broad and sustained impact on teaching, research, sustainability, and student development.
In 2026, only two Pakistani universities—BNU and the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS)—have been shortlisted for these prestigious awards, demonstrating growing international confidence in Pakistan’s higher education sector. BNU’s repeated recognition underscores its leadership in innovation, cross-disciplinary research, and academic excellence, positioning the university as a flagship institution representing Pakistan on the global stage.
