Renowned Pakistani journalist and television host Iqrar ul Hassan has spoken highly of former Prime Minister Imran Khan, expressing respect for his contributions despite political differences.
“Differences aside, I also have love for Imran Khan because of the good work he has done,” Iqrar said while addressing his followers.
He clarified, however, that his admiration does not imply blind political allegiance. Emphasizing the importance of generational change in politics, Iqrar stated that Pakistan’s youth must now step forward to take leadership roles. “Insha’Allah, when Khan Sahib is released from jail, I will personally request him to recognize that he has played his part — and now it is time to give the youth a chance,” he remarked.
The journalist stressed the need to establish a democratic and merit-based political structure, where leadership transitions occur through internal elections and fixed-term systems. “There should be a system where new leaders are elected after specific terms, as is the norm in democratic parties around the world. Only through such a process can an ordinary citizen rise to become the head of a political party or even the Prime Minister,” he said.
Iqrar’s comments have sparked discussion on social media, with many appreciating his balanced stance — acknowledging Imran Khan’s achievements while advocating for political renewal and youth empowerment in Pakistan’s democratic landscape.
