Experts Warn Against Using This Injection for Vitamin B12 Deficiency

The Directorate of Drugs Control Punjab has issued an urgent recall alert, ordering the immediate suspension of the sale and use of specific batches of Injection SATAMIN after they were identified as substandard and adulterated. The recall affects all retailers, wholesalers, and distributors, who have been directed to stop dispensing the affected injections immediately and report existing stock and consumption records to their area drug inspectors.

Drug Testing Laboratories Punjab flagged the medicine as substandard, prompting the Provincial Quality Control Board to order its immediate recall to protect public health. The affected SATAMIN Injection batches (mecobalamin JP 500 mcg, Reg No: 071284) include Batch MC24-022 expiring July 2026, Batch MC24-023 expiring June 2026, Batch MC24-026 expiring July 2026, and Batch MC25-001 expiring July 2027.

The Drugs Control Directorate has instructed the manufacturer to ensure the full withdrawal of these batches from the market and emphasized that strict compliance with the recall order is mandatory. Authorities highlighted that this action is essential to safeguard public health and prevent the distribution and use of compromised pharmaceutical products.
