CDA and Aga Khan University Discuss Establishment of State-of-the-Art Teaching and Tertiary Care Hospital in Islamabad

Chairman Capital Development Authority and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, met with Dr. Sulaiman Shahabuddin, President of Aga Khan University, and Zakir Mahmood, Chairman of the Aga Khan Board of Trustees, to discuss plans for establishing a state-of-the-art teaching and tertiary care hospital in Islamabad. The meeting focused on a strategic collaboration between the Capital Development Authority and Aga Khan University to introduce advanced healthcare and medical education facilities to the federal capital.

During the discussions held at CDA Headquarters, the chairman reaffirmed the authority’s full support for the project, emphasizing that the CDA would provide all necessary planning and infrastructure assistance, including the allocation of appropriate land for the development of the new medical complex. He highlighted that the initiative aligns with CDA’s broader mission to enhance public health services and urban infrastructure across Islamabad.

The President of Aga Khan University reiterated the institution’s strong commitment to delivering high-quality medical education, research, and patient care in Pakistan. He explained that the proposed teaching and tertiary care hospital would not only offer modern healthcare services but also function as a hub for training future medical professionals in accordance with international standards.

Both sides agreed to explore suitable and accessible locations within Islamabad for the project, recognizing that the establishment of the Aga Khan University Teaching and Tertiary Care Hospital would significantly strengthen the city’s healthcare and education infrastructure. Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa noted that this initiative represents a major milestone for Islamabad’s health sector, ensuring top-quality medical services for residents of the capital, Rawalpindi, and surrounding regions in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
