The Government of Punjab, under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, has launched the Veterinary Internship Program 2026 to strengthen the livestock sector and create meaningful employment opportunities for young graduates. With a total budget allocation of Rs. 600 million, the initiative aims to support 1,000 interns across Punjab by offering structured field training along with an attractive monthly stipend. The program is designed to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world practice, helping fresh graduates build professional skills while contributing to animal healthcare and farm development.
This internship program is open to Doctor of Veterinary Medicine graduates, para-veterinarians, and livestock assistants, providing them with hands-on experience in veterinary hospitals, farms, and field operations. Interns will gain practical exposure in animal treatment, vaccination programs, disease prevention, farm management, and artificial insemination techniques. The program also offers valuable networking opportunities with experienced professionals and government officials, helping participants build strong career foundations in the livestock and dairy sectors.
Under the stipend structure, DVM graduates will receive Rs. 60,000 per month, while para-veterinarians and livestock assistants holding a Livestock Assistant Diploma will receive Rs. 40,000 per month. Along with financial support, interns will benefit from structured training, real-time field exposure, and professional development opportunities that enhance their employability in both public and private sectors.
To be eligible, applicants must hold a recognized DVM degree or a two-year Livestock Assistant Diploma, possess a valid Punjab domicile, and apply through the official Punjab government jobs portal. Preference will be given to fresh and unemployed graduates to ensure that the program directly supports youth employment. Quotas have been distributed across all 36 districts of Punjab, ensuring fair representation from both urban and rural areas, and covering roles such as veterinary assistants, AI technicians, and lab assistants.
The core objectives of the Veterinary Internship Program 2026 include improving animal healthcare services, enhancing dairy and meat production capacity, promoting research-based livestock practices, and reducing youth unemployment in the veterinary field.
