The Higher Education Commission (HEC) has announced a revised admission procedure for students seeking MBBS and BDS admissions for the 2026-27 academic session under its scholarship project for Balochistan and the erstwhile FATA, according to an official announcement.
Under the new arrangement, applicants covered by the project titled 'Provision of Higher Education Opportunities for the Students of Balochistan and Erstwhile FATA (Phase-III)' must apply directly to their preferred medical and dental universities. The institutions concerned will manage admissions, seat allocations and placements in line with approved Pakistan Medical and Dental Council (PM&DC) allocations and the applicable admission rules.
The commission clarified that it will continue to provide financial assistance to candidates selected through its prescribed merit-based scholarship process. However, the HEC stressed that the two processes are separate: selection for an HEC scholarship does not automatically guarantee admission to an MBBS or BDS programme, and admission to a university does not by itself qualify a student for scholarship funding.
Students must therefore independently secure admission to an eligible medical or dental institution and complete all requirements set by the admitting university. Those interested in applying have been advised to visit the official admission portal of their preferred medical or dental university for further details and deadlines.
The Phase-III project is designed to widen access to higher education for students from Balochistan and the erstwhile FATA, with HEC continuing to fund candidates who qualify on merit. The revised procedure is intended to streamline admissions by placing seat allocation and placement decisions directly with the medical and dental institutions.
Students and families are encouraged to review the official university portals carefully to ensure they meet both admission and scholarship requirements for the coming academic session.
