The Pakistani rupee extended its run of gains against the US dollar on Tuesday, closing at 276.71 after appreciating by one paisa, according to figures reported by ProPakistani. The move marks the 275th consecutive trading day in which the local currency has closed stronger or held its ground against the greenback.

The current streak dates back to December 25, 2025, since when the rupee has consistently reported gains against the dollar. The sustained stability marks a notable shift for a currency that has historically been prone to sharp swings, and it has drawn attention from businesses and consumers who rely on imported goods and services.

The rupee also advanced against several other major currencies in the latest session. It gained 27 paisas against the British pound and 40 paisas against the euro, while rising Rs. 1.35 against the Australian dollar. Against the Canadian dollar, the rupee added one paisa.

In the Gulf market, the local currency held steady against the UAE dirham and gained one paisa against the Saudi riyal. The dirham and riyal are closely watched because of the large volume of remittances sent home by Pakistanis working in the Gulf, which remains a key source of foreign exchange for the country.

A prolonged period of exchange-rate stability can help ease pressure on importers, support planning for businesses that price goods in dollars, and provide greater certainty for overseas Pakistanis sending money home. Market participants typically view such consistency as a sign of calmer conditions in the foreign exchange market, though the rupee's longer-term direction will continue to depend on the country's external accounts and broader economic conditions.
