PSX Investor Base Hits Record 681,965 with 218,894 New Additions in 2026
The Pakistan Stock Exchange added 218,894 net new investors between January and October 2026, surpassing the total from the previous four years combined, with 85% of new entrants belonging to Gen Z and Millennials.

The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) has witnessed an unprecedented surge in retail investor participation, with its investor base reaching a record 681,965 in October 2026, a 56% increase year-on-year. According to data released by the Finance Ministry on Tuesday, 25,747 new investor accounts were opened in October alone, the highest monthly addition ever recorded.
Between January and October 2026, the PSX added 218,894 net new investors, exceeding the total additions over the previous four full years combined. The Finance Ministry described the development as a remarkable shift in investor participation, reflecting growing confidence and signaling a deeper transformation of Pakistan's capital markets.
A striking feature of this growth is the dominance of younger investors. The ministry noted that 85% of new investors belonged to Generation Z and Millennials, underscoring the increasing involvement of Pakistan's youth in capital markets. This demographic shift could have long-term implications for the market's dynamism and investment patterns.
The PSX investor base had crossed the 600,000 mark in August 2026 before reaching the latest record in October. The sustained momentum suggests that retail participation is becoming a key driver of the exchange's expansion, supported by improved market accessibility and growing awareness.
The record additions come amid broader efforts to deepen Pakistan's capital markets and attract new segments of the population. The Finance Ministry's data highlights a significant milestone in the country's financial landscape, with the PSX now boasting a more diversified investor base than ever before.
