Zong highlighted its network capabilities, 5G-ready infrastructure and intelligent services during an on-ground Quality of Experience (QoE) assessment carried out by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) across Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The exercise formed part of a broader multi-city survey aimed at measuring real-world consumer experience of voice and data services.

Islamabad International Airport served as a key demonstration point, where Zong is the only operator to have deployed a 5G active Distributed Antenna System (DAS) Indoor Building Solution. The deployment reflects the company's investment in advanced indoor connectivity and future-ready network infrastructure, extending high-performance coverage beyond conventional outdoor sites.

The assessment was led by PTA Chairman Major General (Retd.) Hafeez Ur Rehman, who personally tested voice call quality and mobile internet services. Senior PTA officials, including Member (Finance) Muhammad Naveed, Member (Compliance and Enforcement) Dr. Khawar Siddique Khokhar, Member (Telecom) Muhammad Jahanzeb Rahim and DG (Enforcement) Brigadier (Retd.) Amer Shahzad, took part alongside representatives of the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication, mobile network operators, media and Zong leadership. Three dedicated teams conducted parallel field evaluations covering download speeds, call stability, connectivity and service continuity at multiple locations.

Nationwide, Zong has surpassed 1,000 5G sites, including more than 275 5G-enabled sites across the twin cities — the highest deployment in the industry. The company also holds the industry's highest count of 1,000 sites in Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Zong said it continues to strengthen network capacity, reduce congestion and improve data performance, particularly in high-traffic locations and during peak hours, using technologies such as Carrier Aggregation to combine multiple spectrum carriers for greater bandwidth.

The PTA noted that initial findings reflected strong network performance from Zong and improvements in service quality and reliability across the surveyed areas. The regulator said the field assessment was designed to capture actual consumer experience, identify potential service gaps and drive further improvements, and reaffirmed its commitment to sustained field monitoring and close coordination with operators.

Zong said network excellence remains the foundation of its transformation into a technology services enterprise, supporting a shift from basic connectivity to intelligent, technology-led services. The company added that it will continue working with the PTA and industry partners to advance network quality and support Pakistan's digital transformation goals.
