Government Sets Deadline to Restore Traffic on Key Motorway After Disruptions

Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan visited the M-5 Motorway near Jalalpur Pirwala to inspect ongoing repair and restoration work after recent flood damage. He directed the National Highway Authority (NHA) to restore one-way traffic by November 30 and urged officials to minimize inconvenience for commuters immediately. During the visit, the minister closely reviewed rehabilitation progress and instructed NHA engineers to uphold strict quality standards.

He emphasized that substandard work would not be tolerated at any stage and ordered officials to submit a detailed progress report within one week, announcing plans for a follow-up inspection. The minister also examined rest houses and roadside services along the M-5 corridor, expressing dissatisfaction with their condition and instructing responsible authorities to improve facilities without delay.

Abdul Aleem Khan called for clean restrooms, well-stocked tuck shops, and properly maintained traveler services, highlighting that every commuter deserves reliable and hygienic amenities. He reaffirmed that the Ministry of Communications is committed to restoring full functionality to the M-5 Motorway as quickly as possible. NHA officials provided a briefing on the status of ongoing repair operations in the affected areas.
