Islamabad has been placed on high alert following an attack on the Frontier Constabulary (FC) Headquarters in Peshawar, prompting heightened security measures across the federal capital. Police have set up checkpoints at all major entry and exit points to monitor movement, and security has been reinforced around key government buildings and the Red Zone. Public transport passengers are now subjected to identity checks, with authorities at the Faizabad bus terminal recording passengers’ ID numbers. Transport operators have also been instructed to provide passenger information to local police stations to support the enhanced security protocols. Officials stated that these measures are intended to safeguard public safety and maintain law and order throughout the city.

Earlier in Peshawar, Pakistan’s security forces successfully thwarted a suicide attack targeting the FC Headquarters, killing three terrorists. The attack resulted in the martyrdom of three FC personnel who defended the facility. Two explosions occurred near the headquarters in the Saddar area, shattering windows of nearby buildings. Law enforcement quickly cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.

The first attacker detonated himself at the gate at 8:11 a.m., while two others attempted to breach the facility but were neutralized by FC personnel. According to IG Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Zulfikar Hamid, two FC personnel were martyred and two others injured during the confrontation, with the wounded immediately transported to the hospital for treatment. The incident has prompted nationwide vigilance to prevent further attacks and ensure the security of critical installations.
