Punjab is accelerating its clean transport agenda with plans to introduce electric buses in ten additional cities, marking another major step toward reducing pollution and improving public mobility. The expansion aims to provide safer, cleaner, and more efficient travel options for residents across the province.

Officials confirmed that a new fleet of electric buses has been secured for this phase, and preparations such as route inspections and system testing are already in progress to ensure smooth operations. Once launched, the buses will support daily travel for thousands of people, connecting them to schools, workplaces, healthcare facilities, and markets.

The upcoming rollout will cover the following cities: Rawalpindi, Chakwal, Jhelum, Gujar Khan, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan, Rajanpur, and Bahawalpur.

Authorities highlighted that nearly 120,000 passengers are already using Punjab’s electric buses each day, reflecting a rapid shift toward cleaner and more reliable transport. With the addition of new cities, the network’s reach will significantly expand, helping cut fuel consumption and reduce smoke emissions.

The inauguration of this phase is scheduled for November 19, 2025. Officials believe that extending the electric bus system to more districts will not only support the province’s clean air goals but also improve accessibility for people living in smaller and underserved areas.

With continued expansion planned, Punjab aims to build a modern, eco-friendly public transport network that aligns with global green mobility standards.
