Information and Broadcasting Minister Attaullah Tarar announced that four individuals involved in the Islamabad court blast have been arrested, marking a significant development in the investigation. The suicide attack, which took place outside the Judicial Complex in the second week of November, claimed at least 12 lives and left more than a dozen people injured.
During a media briefing in Islamabad, the minister explained that the suspects were apprehended within forty-eight hours through a joint intelligence operation conducted by the Intelligence Bureau and the Counter Terrorism Department. According to the investigation, the arrested men and the suicide bomber had direct links to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and had received training at militant camps in Afghanistan.
Attaullah Tarar also played a confessional video of one of the perpetrators, identified as Sajidullah. He stated that the attackers had planned to target a high-value location, but strict security measures in the federal capital prevented a larger tragedy. He emphasized that while the government is deeply saddened by the loss of innocent lives, the situation could have been far worse had the bomber succeeded in entering the court premises.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening national security and protecting citizens. He added that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif is placing strong emphasis on maintaining law and order, and that security forces and law enforcement agencies remain fully engaged in efforts to eradicate terrorism.
