Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has launched a new initiative allowing 16-year-olds to obtain smart cards and motorcycle licenses, providing legal recognition for young drivers while ensuring adherence to traffic regulations. The program was introduced in response to concerns over the arrest of underage students for minor traffic violations, aiming to create a safer and more structured driving environment for teenagers.
Under this initiative, eligible teens will be able to receive official documentation for driving, helping to promote responsible habits on the road and reduce the risk of accidents. Authorities believe the move will also minimize unnecessary legal actions against minors and streamline the licensing process.
By granting young drivers proper legal status, the initiative seeks to empower youth while improving road safety across the province, fostering a culture of compliance and accountability among new motorists.
