Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah Suspends Karachi Officials Over Child’s Death in Open Manhole

Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has suspended several high-ranking officials following the tragic death of a child who fell into an uncovered manhole near NIPA, according to ARY News. The suspended officers are affiliated with the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), Town Municipal Corporation (TMC) Gulshan-e-Iqbal, the Water and Sewerage Corporation, the office of the Assistant Commissioner Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and other related departments.

The Local Government Department has issued official suspension notifications. Among those suspended are Imran Rajput, Senior Director of Municipal Services; Rashid Fayyaz, Assistant Engineer at TMC Gulshan-e-Iqbal; Waqar Ahmed, Executive Engineer of the Water and Sewerage Corporation; Amir Ali Shah, Assistant Commissioner of Gulshan-e-Iqbal; and Salman Farsi, Mukhtiar Kar of Gulshan-e-Iqbal.

Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah had previously instructed the Chief Secretary of Sindh to determine responsibility for the incident, emphasizing accountability for the uncovered manhole that led to the child’s death. The move highlights the provincial government’s response to public safety lapses and its efforts to enforce administrative responsibility among municipal authorities.
