The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has officially extended the deadline for filing income tax returns for Tax Year 2025.
According to a circular issued late Tuesday night under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance 2001, the deadline has been moved from September 30 to October 15, 2025.
The decision comes after strong appeals from trade bodies, Tax Bar Associations, and the general public for more time to complete tax documentation and overcome filing system issues.
Just three hours before issuing the circular, the FBR had maintained that there would be no extension beyond September 30, warning late filers of penalties. The reversal now provides relief to millions of taxpayers facing last-minute hurdles.
The FBR has urged all eligible taxpayers to make use of the extended date and file their returns promptly to avoid penalties.
