The Punjab government has approved a Rs. 300 million budget to reward athletes participating in the Khelta Punjab Games with electric bikes and laptops, according to a report aired on Friday.

The provincial government has formally sanctioned a supplementary grant to release the funds, finalising the financial allocation for a project that had already received prior approval.

Under the approved plan, the Punjab Finance Department will allocate Rs. 300 million for the purchase of 980 electric bikes, which will be procured under a government-to-government (G2G) model from Wah Industries. The initiative aims to encourage young athletes by providing them with environmentally friendly transport options as a recognition of their performance and commitment to sports.

In addition, more than 600 laptops will be distributed among players under the age of 18 through the Chief Minister Laptop Program. This component of the scheme is designed to support the educational needs of young athletes, helping them balance academics alongside sports development.

The move reflects the Punjab government’s broader strategy to promote youth engagement in sports, reward talent, and support the personal and professional growth of athletes across the province.
