The Karachi South Consumer Protection Court has ruled in favor of a customer whose refrigerator, purchased with a lifetime warranty, began malfunctioning within months. The court accepted the complaint filed by Arif against a private company and ordered the firm to pay Rs200,000 in compensation for selling a defective appliance. In addition, the company was directed to cover Rs50,000 in legal costs and provide a brand-new refrigerator as a replacement.
The complainant had purchased the refrigerator from Clifton after being assured by the company that it came with a lifetime warranty. The court’s decision highlights consumer rights protections and reinforces accountability for companies selling faulty products.
