The Punjab government has announced the launch of 15 electric buses on the Gujar Khan to T-Chowk route starting next month to enhance connectivity with Islamabad and Rawalpindi. The Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Secretary, Asad Shirazi, confirmed that the route has been officially approved and will operate along G.T. Road, starting from Gujar Khan Adda, passing through Mandra, and terminating at T-Chowk before returning to Gujar Khan.

Shirazi also shared updates on the electric bus network in Rawalpindi, stating that the current fleet of 45 buses will increase to 80 in the coming months. This expansion follows the remodelling of Kutchery Chowk, after which six new routes will become operational.

Additionally, construction of a new electric bus depot on Peshawar Road is nearing completion, which will allow the addition of more buses to the system. In total, 10 routes have already been allocated for electric buses, with the remaining six routes set to open once road development work is finished at Kutchery Chowk and other areas. This initiative aims to provide a modern, eco-friendly public transport solution while improving regional connectivity.
