The Parks and Horticulture Authority (PHA) has announced a complete ban on trimming, pruning, or felling trees across Lahore, instructing its officers to strictly enforce the order.
This decision follows concerns raised by the Lahore High Court over tree cutting along Canal Road, with the court warning it could initiate legal action against responsible PHA officials. The authority had previously been criticized for not implementing a citywide ban.
The PHA notification states that no tree may be cut, trimmed, or pruned without prior written approval from the competent authority, even for purposes such as public safety, clearing electric lines, or aesthetic maintenance. All directors and officers have been directed to ensure full compliance within their jurisdictions.
The authority stressed that the measure aims to protect urban greenery and support environmental conservation. Violations will be dealt with under relevant laws and regulations.
