The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has dismissed reports suggesting that internet services across Pakistan will face disruption or slowdown on January 15. PTA officials confirmed that claims circulating on social media regarding nationwide connectivity issues are false, and internet services across the country remain stable with no interruptions reported.
Major upstream providers, including Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and Transworld, are operating normally, with no service degradation observed on their networks. The clarification follows concerns raised after an email from internet service provider Nayatel informed customers of scheduled maintenance on one of Pakistan’s submarine cables on January 15, 2026, around 2 PM. The email mentioned that the work could last up to eight hours and might cause slowness, without specifying the affected cable or its location.
PTA officials emphasized that routine submarine cable maintenance rarely impacts internet services nationwide. Users are assured that no disruption is expected, and internet connectivity across Pakistan will remain smooth and uninterrupted.
