A viral message circulating on WhatsApp and social media in Pakistan claims that residents of Punjab can obtain a driving license without appearing for a test. The message directs applicants to a website called dastakpunjab.online and instructs them to submit personal information and pay fees via Easypaisa or JazzCash. It falsely suggests that the service is part of the “Driving License Management System” under Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and that first-time applicants do not need to attend a physical driving test.
Punjab government and traffic police officials have denied any connection with dastakpunjab.online. The only legitimate platform for driving license services, including learner licenses, renewals, and duplicates, is the official government website dastak.punjab.govt.pk. Muhammad Usman Qureshi, spokesperson for Punjab Traffic Police, clarified that first-time applicants must visit traffic police centers in person for biometric verification, photographs, video recording, and the driving test. The process cannot be completed entirely online.
Digital security experts warn that fraudulent platforms like dastakpunjab.online often collect sensitive personal information such as CNICs and photos, request payments through unsecured channels like Easypaisa or JazzCash, and are commonly used for identity theft and online fraud. Falling victim to such scams can lead to financial loss, misuse of identity, and legal complications.
The official procedure for obtaining a driving license in Punjab requires applicants to apply for a learner license online or offline, submit documents including CNIC or Form-B, passport-sized photographs, and a medical fitness certificate if applicable. Applicants must then visit a traffic police center for biometric verification, video recording, and a physical driving test. A certified examiner evaluates driving skills, and passing the test is mandatory for issuance of a permanent license. Once approved, the driving license is either handed over in person or delivered to the applicant’s address, depending on the chosen process.
Residents are advised to always use official government portals, avoid sharing payment or identity details on unverified websites, and verify secure HTTPS domains before submitting sensitive information. No legitimate online platform in Punjab allows applicants to bypass the driving test.
The viral claim about obtaining a Punjab driving license without a test is false and potentially dangerous. Following the official procedure ensures safety, legal compliance, and protection of personal data. Residents should rely solely on dastak.punjab.govt.pk for secure and verified driving license services.
