Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced an extension of Basant celebrations in Lahore, citing overwhelming public enthusiasm and responsible behavior as the festival returned after a 25-year hiatus. The decision reflects the government’s appreciation of citizens who celebrated the occasion peacefully while adhering to safety regulations.

In her statement, Maryam Nawaz said that Basant festivities will now continue until 5:00 am tomorrow as a reward for the disciplined conduct displayed by residents across the city. She noted that people followed safety standard operating procedures, helping ensure a secure and well-managed environment throughout the celebrations.

The chief minister highlighted that the energy, unity, and joy witnessed across Lahore demonstrated the public’s commitment to reviving Basant as a safe and positive cultural event. She urged citizens to continue celebrating responsibly by avoiding electric wires, securing rooftops, and strictly following all safety guidelines issued by authorities.
