The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) has announced that Pakistani citizens applying for their first Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) will now be issued the document free of charge. This initiative applies to Pakistanis who have reached the age of 18 and are applying for their first non-smart chip CNIC. Eligible applicants can obtain their cards within 15 days at no cost by visiting any NADRA centre.
Applicants who wish to receive their CNICs faster can opt for paid processing services. The urgent service guarantees delivery within 12 days for Rs 1,150, while the executive service provides delivery within 6 days at a cost of Rs 2,150. These options allow citizens to choose faster processing if required.
To make the application process more convenient, NADRA has introduced an appointment booking feature through its updated Pak ID mobile application. Citizens can schedule appointments at NADRA centres nationwide by selecting the appointment option and choosing an available time slot. NADRA advises applicants to arrive at least 10 minutes before their scheduled time to ensure smooth processing and priority service.
NADRA has also expanded its services for overseas Pakistanis by launching a mobile registration facility for citizens residing in the United Arab Emirates. This development further improves access to identity registration services for Pakistanis abroad, reflecting NADRA’s ongoing efforts to simplify citizen services, enhance accessibility, and ensure efficient issuance of CNICs for first-time applicants.
