The Islamabad Food Authority has introduced new regulations for restaurants and food outlets to improve hygiene standards and strengthen food safety across the federal capital. The updated Standard Operating Procedures require chefs, waiters, and all food handlers to wear caps while working to minimize contamination risks and maintain cleanliness. Authorities emphasized that any restaurant or food outlet found violating these rules will face immediate closure as part of strict enforcement measures. According to officials, the mandatory use of caps is a key step toward promoting public health and ensuring that food preparation areas remain sanitary. The Food Authority has also urged citizens to report any establishments where staff members fail to comply with these hygiene requirements, highlighting the importance of community participation in maintaining food safety standards. The Director of the Food Authority has instructed inspection teams to conduct regular and surprise visits across the city to monitor compliance with the new SOPs. Teams have been directed to take firm action against violators, while citizens are encouraged to cooperate by reporting restaurants and food points that do not adhere to the updated hygiene protocols.
