The Directorate General of Immigration and Passports (DGIP) has issued a public warning about a scam involving the misuse of the Google Maps location for the Regional Passport Office in Islamabad’s G-10 sector. According to the DGIP, a scammer has falsely added personal contact information, including a phone number and email address, and has been demanding payments through JazzCash and bank accounts under the guise of official transactions.
The department clarified that no individual is authorized to collect payments on behalf of the passport office through personal channels. Citizens have been urged to exercise caution, avoid sharing personal information, and refrain from sending money to unauthorized persons.
In its official advisory, the DGIP stated, “Beware: Do not share your personal information or make any payments to such individuals.” For genuine queries or assistance, citizens are advised to contact the DGIP Helpline at 051-111-344-777.
The authority expressed gratitude to the public for their cooperation and reaffirmed its commitment to protecting citizens from fraud. It further advised that for verified information, citizens should only refer to the DGIP’s official website or its verified social media accounts under the handle @dgipofficial.
