Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has invited Saudi Arabia to invest in Pakistan’s major motorway and infrastructure projects, emphasizing the vast potential in the country’s expanding transport and logistics network. The invitation was extended during a meeting with the Saudi Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Aljasser, held on the sidelines of the Pakistan International Maritime Expo and Conference (PIMEC 2025) in Karachi.
Aleem Khan highlighted Pakistan’s dedication to strengthening cooperation with Saudi Arabia in transport, logistics, and infrastructure development. He noted that the Strategic Mutual Defence Agreement (SMDA) between both nations has further deepened bilateral relations and established a solid foundation for future collaboration.
The minister explained that Pakistan’s road infrastructure is self-sustaining, backed by an efficient toll system, and continues to grow with new motorway projects aimed at linking northern areas with key urban and economic hubs. These developments are expected to enhance regional trade and connectivity.
During the discussion, Aleem Khan encouraged Saudi investment in several high-value projects, including:
-
M-6 Motorway (Sukkur–Hyderabad)
-
M-10 Motorway (Hyderabad–Karachi Port)
-
M-13 Motorway (Kharian–Rawalpindi)
-
Mansehra–Naran–Jalkhad–Chilas (MNJC) Road
He noted that the MNJC Road project, in particular, offers significant commercial potential due to its connection to popular tourism regions, making it a lucrative opportunity for investors.
In response, the Saudi minister requested Pakistan’s support in the upcoming International Maritime Organization (IMO) elections, to which Pakistan agreed. He also praised Pakistan’s development vision and offered Saudi cooperation in areas such as technology transfer, road safety, and logistics enhancement.
Both countries reaffirmed their shared commitment to expanding collaboration in infrastructure and transport sectors, underscoring their mutual goal of building stronger economic and strategic ties.
