Nearly 2.9 million Pakistanis have emigrated over the past three years, according to data from the Protectorate of Emigrants. Economic instability, limited job opportunities, and the search for better education and healthcare remain the primary drivers behind this large-scale migration.
The trend includes both highly educated professionals—such as doctors, engineers, IT experts, teachers, architects, designers, bankers, and auditors—and skilled laborers, including plumbers, drivers, and welders. This diverse mix highlights the widespread impact of Pakistan’s economic and employment challenges across different sectors.
Notably, the number of women moving abroad has also increased, signaling a significant demographic change in migration patterns. Gulf nations, along with countries in Europe and North America, continue to be the preferred destinations for Pakistani workers and professionals seeking better living and career prospects.
