Italy has returned a collection of ancient artifacts to Pakistan, dating back nearly 5,000 years and originating from archaeological sites in Balochistan’s Kuli and Naal regions. These relics belong to early Bronze Age settlements that existed before the Indus Valley Civilization, offering valuable insight into South Asia’s prehistoric culture and craftsmanship.
According to Pakistan’s embassy in Rome, the artifacts arrived in Islamabad on October 30, 2025, following their recovery by Italian authorities after being illegally smuggled out of the country. Officials described the return as a reflection of strong diplomatic and cultural cooperation between Pakistan and Italy.
The embassy noted that this marks another milestone in a long-standing effort to protect Pakistan’s heritage, as nearly 100 artifacts have been repatriated over the past 18 years. Both nations reaffirmed their shared commitment to preserving historical treasures and strengthening cultural ties through continued collaboration in heritage conservation.
