Pakistan is set to take a historic step in its space exploration journey by sending two citizens to China for a one-year astronaut training program at the China Manned Space Agency, beginning in October 2025. Following the training, the selected individuals will embark on a week-long mission aboard the Chinese Space Station in 2026, marking the country’s first participation in human spaceflight.

The Pakistan Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO) has prepared for the mission by shortlisting 300 scientific experiments across diverse fields, including medicine, aerospace, ecology, and astronomy. These experiments are expected to be part of the Pakistani astronauts’ research activities during their stay in orbit.

This development is part of a larger China-Pakistan space cooperation framework set for 2025 to 2029. The collaboration includes joint initiatives in astronaut training, lunar exploration research, and the development of advanced space technologies. The program reflects deepening strategic and scientific ties between the two nations, with shared goals in pushing the boundaries of space science and innovation.

This milestone signals Pakistan’s entry into human spaceflight in partnership with China and opens new possibilities for scientific advancement, technological progress, and international collaboration in space exploration.
