The Commissioner of Karachi Division, Syed Hassan Naqvi, has announced a complete ban on the movement of heavy vehicles along Jinnah Avenue, stretching from the Super Highway (M-9 Karachi–Hyderabad Motorway) near Saima Pari Classic and Rufi Global City up to Malir Halt and Shahrah-e-Faisal. The ban, issued under Section 144 of the CrPC, is intended to ensure smoother traffic flow and enhance road safety across the city. The decision follows a request from the Deputy Inspector General of Police (Traffic), Karachi, and recommendations from the Secretary of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA). Heavy vehicles are now required to use a designated alternate route via Link Road (Eastern Bypass) from Kathore, continuing on the Super Highway (M-9) up to Sassi Toll Plaza, and then onto the National Highway (N-5). The alternate route will remain operational during permitted hours to prevent congestion on major city roads. The notification specifies that the new amendments will remain in effect for the same duration as the previous order issued on October 17, 2025. The ban applies to all local limits within Karachi Division and is part of a broader effort to improve traffic management, reduce congestion, and ensure safer commuting for all road users in the city.
