Pakistan has been ranked as the fifth most affordable country in the world for public transport, according to a 2025 global fare analysis that covered 123 countries and 319 cities. The report highlighted that the average one-way ticket in Pakistan costs just Rs46, while a monthly travel pass is approximately Rs1,800, making daily commuting highly economical for residents. Luxembourg topped the list as the cheapest country, offering free public transportation, whereas Iceland was ranked as the most expensive. Analysts noted that Pakistan’s low transport fares provide significant financial relief for citizens, in contrast to many European countries where public transport costs remain a major expense. The ranking underscores Pakistan’s position as one of the most accessible and affordable countries for urban mobility globally.
