Sindh Identifies Karachi Roads Where E-Challans Are Currently Not Being Issued

The Sindh government has responded to public criticism regarding its recently launched e-ticketing system, with traffic authorities issuing clarifications to address motorists’ concerns across Karachi. DIG Traffic Police Pir Muhammad Shah stated that traffic challans will not be issued on roads in poor condition, emphasizing that enforcement will remain fair and considerate of the city’s infrastructure challenges.

The announcement comes amid ongoing public frustration over heavy fines, prompting government officials to review the penalty structure. Authorities recognize that strict fines alone cannot change traffic behavior without parallel improvements in road conditions and public awareness campaigns. A senior Sindh government official confirmed that Chief Minister Sindh has approved relief measures for first-time offenders, allowing fines to be waived within ten days if the motorist submits a written apology in person. Additionally, authorities are considering reducing fines for certain violations, with announcements expected by the end of the month.

Despite these measures, the official clarified that the e-ticketing system will continue to operate and gradually expand across Karachi and other districts of Sindh. The system aims to strengthen traffic regulation, improve road safety, and create a more disciplined driving environment across the province, balancing enforcement with public fairness and awareness.
