Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced a new traffic compliance measure requiring all vehicles entering Islamabad to be equipped with an electronic tag (E-tag) within the next two weeks. The E-tag system is designed to streamline traffic management, improve security, and enable automated monitoring of vehicles entering the capital. According to the announcement, any vehicle that does not have a valid E-tag after the two-week deadline will be denied entry into Islamabad, including vehicles belonging to residents of the city. Authorities emphasized that this step is part of a broader effort to modernize traffic regulation, enhance road safety, and ensure smoother vehicular flow within the capital. Vehicle owners are advised to register for E-tags promptly to avoid restrictions and penalties. The Interior Ministry highlighted that the implementation of E-tags will allow authorities to monitor traffic patterns more efficiently, reduce congestion at entry points, and prevent unauthorized vehicles from entering restricted areas. This initiative is expected to support Islamabad’s ongoing efforts to modernize its transport infrastructure and maintain law and order on city roads.
