The Yenching Global Symposium 2026 in China is the annual flagship event of the Yenching Academy, bringing together emerging leaders, scholars, and young professionals from around the world. Scheduled to be held at Peking University from April 16 to 19, 2026, the symposium offers a fully in-person, fully funded experience that fosters international exchange, interdisciplinary dialogue, and a deeper understanding of global issues with a focus on China. This year’s theme, “Harnessing Momentum: The Power to Act in a Changing World,” emphasizes proactive engagement with contemporary challenges and encourages participants to explore solutions in a rapidly evolving global landscape.
The symposium will host distinguished speakers, including international scholars, officeholders, and professionals from diverse fields. Through lectures, panel discussions, and interactive sessions, participants will engage with critical topics related to technology, nature, culture, international relations, politics, business, and the arts. With a highly competitive selection process, YGS 2026 will admit 100 delegates from across the globe, providing a platform for interdisciplinary and intercultural dialogue. Participants will also have access to networking opportunities, fostering connections with a global community of emerging leaders and change-makers.
Eligibility criteria for YGS 2026 require applicants to be born on or after May 1995, possess strong leadership potential, and either be in their final year of a bachelor’s degree or have already completed one. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency, a strong interest in China, and a commitment to full participation in the symposium. Previous attendees of Yenching Global Symposiums or Yenching Social Innovation Forums are not eligible, ensuring fresh perspectives and voices at the event.
Benefits include full coverage of accommodation, transportation, and meals for participants, with the exception of visa fees for international delegates. Delegates will gain firsthand experience of Chinese culture and traditions on the historic Peking University campus while engaging in in-depth discussions on critical global and China-related topics. Participants will also become part of the Yenching Community, accessing ongoing networking and collaboration opportunities beyond the symposium. Applications must be submitted online with a CV and required documents, and short essay responses should not exceed 200 words. The application deadline for YGS 2026 is January 5, 2026.
