Ali Tareen has launched the Tareen Oxford Scholarship, a new funding initiative designed to support students from South Punjab in pursuing a Master’s degree at the University of Oxford. The scholarship will cover full tuition for selected candidates, addressing the low application rate from the region. A guidance webinar is scheduled for January 14 in collaboration with the Oxford Pakistan Programme to assist students with the application process.

The Tareen Oxford Scholarship, part of the Oxford Pakistan Programme (OPP), provides means-tested funding for Pakistani students, prioritizing talented applicants from South Punjab. It is intended for those who have received admission to eligible graduate courses at Kellogg College but lack the financial means to enroll. The scholarship contributes to tuition fees and living costs, with preference given to applicants for whom the award would be transformative and who show commitment to contributing to South Punjab’s development.

Backed by Ali Tareen, an alumnus of Kellogg College, the programme is structured as a five-year initiative, with funds donated annually and disbursed on a rolling basis. It forms part of OPP’s broader effort to support Pakistani and British Pakistani students at Oxford.

To boost applications from South Punjab, OPP and Ali Tareen will run targeted outreach initiatives, including an Access Conference for final-year students applying for graduate degrees abroad. The top 20 attendees will receive one-on-one mentorship from an Oxford student or recent alumnus. Additionally, 100 high-performing students from South Punjab, including FSc and first-year public-sector university toppers, will be selected for mentorship and guidance on building competitive profiles for global opportunities.

Eligibility criteria include demonstrated financial need, academic merit, a confirmed admission offer for an eligible graduate programme at Kellogg College, and clear intent to contribute to South Punjab’s development.

Applicants must first secure admission to an eligible Oxford graduate programme and then apply through the scholarship process managed by OPP. The selection process includes an online application, shortlisting, and an online interview before final decisions are made.

Students interested in the scholarship can register for the guidance webinar by providing basic details, including full name, email, education level, intended graduate track, field of study, current or most recent institution, and region of residence, with a specific option for South Punjab.
