Islamabad is set to get a modern cricket stadium as the Capital Development Authority (CDA) has approved the project’s budget and selected Sector D-12, near Iran Avenue, as the site. Construction is scheduled to begin in mid-January, with the main structure expected to be completed within six to eight months. The federal government has instructed the CDA to complete the entire project within a year, aiming to establish a state-of-the-art sports facility in the capital.

The stadium’s design will follow the standards of major international venues, particularly those in Dubai, positioning Islamabad as a potential host for global cricket events and reducing pressure on other stadiums across Pakistan. The location on the city’s outskirts has been chosen to minimize traffic congestion during major matches, especially when heightened security measures are in place for visiting teams.

The project also includes a high-end hotel adjacent to the stadium, allowing teams, officials, and staff to stay within walking distance. The complex will feature advanced security systems, improved access roads, and expanded parking facilities, meeting international standards commonly seen in major sports centers in the UAE. Once completed, the stadium is expected to enhance Islamabad’s sporting infrastructure and contribute to the city’s profile as a hub for international cricket events.
