Australia have announced a 17-player squad for the upcoming three-match T20 International series against Pakistan at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. The series will take place over four days, starting January 29, with the remaining matches on January 31 and February 1.
Mitchell Marsh will lead the team as captain. Senior players Travis Head, Cameron Green, and Josh Inglis, who recently featured in Australia’s Ashes series against England, are included in the squad.
Several high-profile players, including Nathan Ellis, Tim David, Josh Hazlewood, Glenn Maxwell, and Pat Cummins, will miss the tour due to workload management and injury recovery. To cover these absences, selectors have called up Sean Abbott, Mahli Beardman, Ben Dwarshuis, Jack Edwards, Mitch Owen, Josh Philippe, and Matthew Renshaw.
Young talents Mahli Beardman, a fast bowler, and all-rounder Jack Edwards earned their call-ups after strong performances in the Big Bash League. Both remain uncapped internationally but have been part of Australian squads earlier this summer.
Australia’s Chair of Selectors, George Bailey, emphasized the importance of the series for emerging players, describing it as a valuable opportunity for gaining experience within the World Cup group.
This tour marks Australia’s third visit to Pakistan since March–April 2022, following a historic Test series, ODI series, and a one-off T20I. The team also played three matches of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 in Pakistan.
