Pakistan continued its impressive performance in international squash as Muhammad Asim Khan and Noor Zaman advanced to the round of 16 at the Squash on Fire Open, a bronze-level PSA World Tour event taking place in Washington, United States. The strong showing highlights Pakistan’s growing presence on the global squash circuit as the tournament enters its knockout stages.
Muhammad Asim Khan secured his spot in the last 16 after a hard-fought five-game victory against England’s Nick Wall in a closely contested match lasting 63 minutes. After dropping the opening game 5–11, Asim Khan regrouped to take the next two games 11–7 and 11–6. Wall forced a deciding fifth game by edging the fourth 12–10, but Asim Khan maintained composure to win the final game 11–8 and seal a 3–2 victory. He will next face England’s Declan James in the round of 16.
Fellow Pakistani Noor Zaman also progressed to the round of 16 with a solid performance, defeating Xian Siow 3–1 in a 47-minute encounter. Despite narrowly losing the first game 11–13, Noor Zaman bounced back strongly to claim the next three games 11–9, 11–7, and 11–5. He is set to play England’s Patrick Rooney in the next round, as Pakistan’s challenge continues at the Squash on Fire Open.
