Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi announced on Thursday that COAS Field Marshal Asim Munir was instrumental in facilitating dialogue between Pakistan and Sri Lanka, ensuring that the Sri Lankan cricket team’s tour of Islamabad would continue as planned. Naqvi, who also serves as the Pakistan Cricket Board chief, stated that the Field Marshal personally communicated with Sri Lanka’s defence minister and other officials, providing assurances of comprehensive security arrangements for the visiting team.
As a result of these high-level discussions, the Sri Lankan cricket board confirmed that their team’s ongoing tour of Pakistan would proceed without interruption, effectively averting a potential crisis and reinforcing confidence in the country’s ability to host international cricket safely.
